Phillips will host a screening of the film gOD-Talk presented by the National African American Museum of History & Culture in association with the Pew Research Center.

Join Phillips Theological Seminary for a thought-provoking evening as we host a screening of gOD-Talk: Reimagining Faith in the 21st Century, a groundbreaking documentary from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Premiering in October 2023, this film delves into the lives of seven Black millennials, exploring their diverse spiritual journeys in today's world. The screening, set for April 5 on the seminary’s Tulsa campus, will include discussions on African American millennials' evolving relationship with religion and spirituality. Directed by Kim Moir and featuring narration by Javicia Leslie Walker, this film promises to spark important conversations about faith, identity, and social change.

Discussions will feature principals from the film and leading millennial voices. The film is rated PG-13.

Tulsa Race Massacre Annual Lecture

Phillips presents a lecture by Dr. Tracey Hucks, “Religion, the Black Body, and Intimate Terror in Trinidad” to commemorate the Tulsa Race Massacre, suggesting lessons the history offers, and interpreting the inherited legacies that must be confronted. Prior to the lecture, there will be a reception launching the opening of Halim Flowers art exhibit, “Something New, Black Birds (2121).” The solo exhibit by the internationally known visual artist, spoken word performer, businessman, and author of 11 published nonfiction works features new work created after a visit to Tulsa, including Greenwood and Black Wall Street.  Read more about Halim's exhibition here: Art Exhibits
